AI visibility

3 insights on ai visibility. Each opens with the direct answer.

AI visibility is how often, and how prominently, AI engines name your brand when buyers ask about your category. It is one of the five pillars of digital authority and carries 30% of the score.

How do you measure it?

Not with one prompt. AI engines do not give the same answer every time, and each engine retrieves different sources. A fair measurement uses a fixed set of buyer questions, run across several engines, with every answer read and tallied: named or not, in what position, and which sources were cited.

Three numbers matter most:

  • Mention rate. The share of answers that name you.
  • Position. Whether you are the first name or the fifth.
  • Cited sources. Which publications the engine drew on, and whether you appear in them.

Expect the result to move a few points between runs. Look at the trend, not a single answer.

What moves it?

Mostly what other people publish about you. Engines weight independent sources above a brand's own site, so coverage in the publications they already cite is the largest lever. Your own pages still matter: a page that answers the buyer question directly, with clean structure and schema, gives the engine something to retrieve.

The mechanics are in how AI engines choose which brands to name.

What does not move it?

Volume for its own sake. Many thin pages, keyword repetition and prompts written to flatter the model do not change which sources an engine trusts.
