Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Maru Markets for using the Ethos Engine website, platform, reports, subscriptions and marketplace.
1. Who you are dealing with
These terms are a contract between you and Maru Markets ("Maru Markets", "we", "us"), Tampa, Florida, United States, which operates Ethos Engine at ethosengine.io and ethosengine.io/app (the "Service"). By creating an account, placing an order or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Refund and Cancellation Policy. If you use the Service for a company, you confirm you can bind that company, and "you" means the company.
The Service is for businesses and professionals. You must be at least 18.
2. The Service
Digital Authority Report. We measure how your brand appears in AI engine answers, press coverage, search results, public identity records and public link data, and combine it into a score. The report is built from public and third-party data at the time it runs. It is an estimate, not an audit. AI engines give different answers at different times, so scores move between runs.
Plans. The free plan includes one report. Paid plans add reports on a schedule, history, competitor tracking, the marketplace and 1-on-1 calls, as described on the plans page. Plan features can change; we will not remove a feature you have paid for during the paid period without a refund for the difference.
Marketplace. Placements, link building, local SEO and content are produced by third-party publications and suppliers we arrange and manage. A request in the platform is a quote, not an order. An order exists when you approve the quote and pay.
Calls. 1-on-1 calls are booked through our scheduling link and are advice, not a guarantee of results. Missed calls without 24 hours' notice are forfeited for that period.
3. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep your login secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- One website per account. Tell us if it changes.
- Do not use the Service to assess a brand you have no right to represent, to harass anyone, or to break any law.
- Do not scrape, copy, resell or reverse-engineer the Service, overload it, or try to access other customers' data.
4. Orders and content you supply
- You are responsible for the content you ask us to place or that you supply: it must be true, lawful, yours to publish, and must not infringe anyone's rights or defame anyone. You grant us and the publication the right to publish it.
- Publications may edit, label as sponsored or contributed, decline, or later remove content. We will tell you when a publication declines, and the Refund Policy applies.
- Advertising and endorsement rules apply to what you publish. Where a placement is paid, the publication's labelling governs; do not ask us to remove a required disclosure.
- Link-building and local-SEO work follows the practices described on each product page. Search engines set their own rules and may change how they treat any tactic; we do not control that.
5. Payment
- Prices are in US dollars and exclude taxes unless stated. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store card numbers.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until cancelled. Cancellation and refunds are governed by the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend paid features until it is settled.
6. No guarantees of results
We do not promise rankings, traffic, AI mentions, press coverage, leads, revenue or any specific score. Third parties (search engines, AI engines, publications) decide what they show and publish. Information in the Service, on the website and in Insights is general information, not legal, financial or professional advice.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, its software, score methodology, design and content are owned by Maru Markets or its licensors. You may use your reports for your own business. Content we write for you becomes yours when paid for; we may reuse the underlying know-how. Third-party names and logos shown in the Service belong to their owners and do not imply endorsement.
8. Data
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. Where you give us personal data of other people (for example a contact at your company), you confirm you may do so.
9. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features with notice where practical. We may update these terms; material changes are notified by email or in the platform at least 14 days before they take effect, and continued use after that date is acceptance.
10. Termination
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, with notice where practical. Sections 4, 6, 7, 11 and 12 survive termination.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: the Service is provided "as is"; we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data; and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for fraud or gross negligence. You will indemnify us against claims arising from content you supplied or asked us to place.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hillsborough County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing, both sides agree to try to resolve the matter in good faith by email for 30 days. If you are a consumer with non-waivable rights under your local law, those rights remain.
13. General
If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stands. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor of the business. These terms, with the policies linked above, are the whole agreement.
